NOTICE REGARDING DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES
The R&A are permitting Clubs to introduce a Local Rule pertaining to the use of measuring devices. As a result, we are permitting the use of such devices on the Course and in competition play. This applies to devices that measure distances only (not wind speed, gradient, temperature, etc.)
"The use of a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player's play (gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.) is not permitted, regardless of whether such an additional function is used or not.""
Anyone using such a device in competition will be disqualified.
