Nick Taylor wins the Phoenix Open after defeating Charley Hoffman in the play-offs, whilst players and spectators at odds with each other
Sales of alcohol were momentarily suspended, and spectator gates had to close earlier than scheduled due to overwhelming demand; on the par-3 16th hole, a guy was detained after breaching the ropes and plunging into a greenside bunker.
At the WM Phoenix Open, Nick Taylor defeated Charley Hoffman on the second hole of a play-off to earn his fourth PGA Tour victory with a late charge.
With three of his last four holes birdied on Sunday, the Canadian forced a play-off against American Hoffman, who shot a fourth-round score of 64 to take the lead in the standings.
Hoffman stopped short of making a birdie after each player birdied the first extra hole, which opened the door for Taylor to win the title with an 11-foot putt.
