Tyrrell Hatton has made history by claiming his third Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title, sealing his victory with a crucial birdie on the 18th hole at St Andrews. Hatton's final-round duel with Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts saw both players tied at 23-under-par heading to the final hole, but it was the 32-year-old Englishman who held his nerve, sinking a four-foot putt to claim his seventh DP World Tour title.
Hatton’s victory adds another chapter to his impressive record at the Alfred Dunhill Links, having previously won the event in 2016 and 2017. This latest triumph makes him the first player to secure three wins in the tournament's history. His performance throughout the week was highlighted by a stunning third-round 61, tying the course record and giving him a one-shot lead heading into the final day.
Colsaerts, who was aiming for his first DP World Tour win in five years, kept pace with Hatton until the final moments, but a missed birdie putt on the 18th opened the door for Hatton to secure victory. Hatton, now ranked No. 20 in the world, expressed his emotions following the win, particularly as his father was there to witness the moment. "It feels good. It's the first time I've won the tournament with my dad here, so it means a lot," Hatton shared with Sky Sports, fighting back tears of joy.
Tommy Fleetwood, another Englishman, finished third at 21-under-par, while Hatton's 24-under total matched the tournament record he set in 2017. This marks Hatton's first DP World Tour victory since his 2021 win at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, further solidifying his status among the top players in the game.
