Bonnyton Golf Club was proudly represented at the Northern Metropolitan Golf Tournament, held at Whitefield Golf Club in Prestwich, Manchester, on Monday 1st June.
A team of six gents travelled south to take part in the event, with Bonnyton represented by Captain Brian Caplan, Vice-Captain Colin Weir, Gary Potts, Glen Buchanan, Steve Roper and Ian Waugh.
The format for the day was a Stableford competition played from the white tees, with the best four nett scores from each team of six counting towards the overall team result.
The Bonnyton team made the most of the trip, travelling down to Manchester for a practice round on the Sunday before competing in the main tournament on the Monday. It was a great opportunity to enjoy competitive golf, good company and one of the excellent reciprocal courses available to Bonnyton members.
Congratulations go to Whitefield Golf Club, who won the team event and lifted the Lee Park Trophy.
Although Bonnyton did not come away with the silverware this year, the team battled hard, played some excellent golf and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. The course was presented in fantastic condition and the hospitality received from everyone at Whitefield Golf Club was first class.
Speaking after the event, Captain Brian Caplan said it was a pleasure to take a team down to Manchester and be part of such a well-run and enjoyable tournament.
Bonnyton very much looks forward to next year’s event and would encourage members to consider taking part in future Northern Metropolitan competitions. It is a fantastic way to represent the club, enjoy competitive golf and experience some of the many reciprocal courses available through Bonnyton Golf Club.
Well done to Brian, Colin, Gary, Glen, Steve and Ian for representing Bonnyton so well.
